Wizard

Needs a little skill to put it together.

Things You Need:
  • 2 to 4 flashing star rings
  • Canvas sneakers
  • Cornucopia basket
  • Cotton cording
  • Craft glue
  • Evening blue, purple and fuchsia fabric dyes
  • Glitter
  • Long-sleeved cotton nightgown or cotton sheet for tunic
  • Oversized adult robe, preferably with exaggerated pointed sleeves
  • Paintbrushes
  • Paper stars
  • Paper stencils for stars, moon and sun
  • Pipe cleaners of regular, large and ruffled types
  • Polyester fiberfill
  • Similar fabric as in tunic for cape
Instructions:
  • Dye the robe with evening blue color using the manufacturer's instructions. Any extra fabric can be saved for making tie-dye cuffs and lapels.
  • Tie-dye 6" wide cuff and lapel fabric in fuchsia color to make any pattern.
  • Repeat tying, dyeing and rinsing till you get the shade you want.
  • Wash and dry to remove any excess color.
  • Dye tunic and cape fabric in purple color.
  • Make one or more small holes in the lapels to insert flashing rings.
  • Dye some cotton cording in purple color and add it to the neck of the robe and attach the sun, moon and star cutouts to its ends.
  • For the cape, cut a basic triangle from the purple fabric ad attach its two long ends to the shoulders of the robe.
  • On the bottom edge of the robe, make star patterns using stencils and paint it with craft glue and sprinkle glitter on it.
  • Stuff the inside of the cornucopia basket with polyester fiberfill to act as a cushion and wig.
  • Brush the basket with craft glue and sprinkle with glitter to lend it a magical look.
  • You may also attach paper stars to the point.
  • Curl the pipe cleaners around your fingers and its one end can be secured to the rim of the basket.
  • Pull the fiberfill through the curled pipe cleaner to secure the wig in place while a large ruffled pipe cleaner can be shaped into a moustache and secured in a similar fashion to the rim of the basket.
  • Dyed cotton cording can make the wizard's beard.
  • Make interesting patterns on shows with craft glue and sprinkle with glitter and let them dry.
  • For making an interesting wand for the wizard, twist the large pipe cleaners to make the sturdy, yet not very rigid, wand.
  • Put a flashing star atop it. Alternatively, use a paper star sprinkled with glitter.
